Because thesis statements need to be strong statements that often convey complex ideas, they often work well as complex sentences.

Example: Although Kate Chopin's breathtaking novel The Awakening was first published in 1899, it remains a timeless example of great literature that allows readers to examine a complex character's inner struggle between right and wrong.
